Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia, Tashkent:

• Joint Communiqué of the Heads of States of the Central Asian region was adopted;
• The decision was made to establish the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS).

11.01.1994.

Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia, Nukus:

• The “Program of concrete actions on improvement of ecological situation in the Aral Sea basin (ASBP-1)” was approved;
• Approved Statute of the Interstate Council on the Aral Sea Basin Problems (ICAB).

Meeting of heads of water management bodies of Central Asian countries, Almaty:

• Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on cooperation in the sphere of joint management of use and protection of water resources of interstate sources” was signed;
• Interstate Coordination Water Commission (ICWC) is created.

• New scheme of the Fund management is approved;
• I.A.Karimov – President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was elected as IFAS President;
• Almaty Declaration was adopted.

• E.Sh. Rakhmonov – President of the Republic of Tajikistan was elected as IFAS President.

Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia, Kyzylorda:

• IFAS Statute was signed;
• N.A.Nazarbayev – President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was elected as President of IFAS;
• Interstate Council on the Aral Sea problems was formed;
• Commission on socio-economic development, scientific-technical and ecological cooperation was established.
