STRUCTURE
The structure of IFAS is established in the “Regulations on IFAS” and the “Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the status of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) and its organizations”.
Both documents were signed by the presidents of these countries on April 9, 1999 in Ashgabat.

Executive Committee of IFAS
The Executive Committee is the executive body of the Fund and is created to solve the following tasks:
Ensuring the practical implementation of decisions of the Council of Heads of Founding States, the President and the Board of IFAS on the problems of the Aral Sea basin;
Assistance to the work of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) and the Interstate Commission on Sustainable Development (ICSD);
Implementation of programs and projects aimed at solving the problems of the Aral Sea basin; - coordination of the activities of the branches of the Executive Committee, special agencies of the funds for assistance in improving the socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea basin, located on the territory of the founding states of the Fund;
Expanding cooperation with international organizations, donor countries, environmental and other funds to activate activities on environmental protection issues and rehabilitation of ecologically unfavorable areas.
