Secretary of State, Gulshara Abdykalikova took part in The Aral international forum on sustainable development.
The akim of Kyzylorda oblast, members of Parliament of the RK, ambassadors of other countries, representatives of central and local state authorities, scientists and experts participated in the work of the forum.
In her opening statement, Gulshara Abdikalikova had noted that the tragedy of the Aral Sea is one of the most important environmental disasters and it became a clear example of what could be a cause of a thoughtless attitude towards the nature.
Secretary of state emphasized that the Head of the state in his programme article “Prospection: modernization of public consciousness” highlighted the pragmatism, which means “certain knowing of your own national and personal resources, its lowest possible use, ability to plan your own future”.
Over the years, programs on environmental recovery and solving socio-economic issues of the Aral Sea area had been taken by The International Fund for saving the Aral Sea. Kazakhstan with the support of The World Bank restored the north part of the Aral Sea. However, there has been noticed that more remained to be done.
Gulshara Abdykalikova expressed the hope for support of international community to solutions to the Aral Sea issues, further consolidation of the efforts and countries of Central Asia in this direction.
In the framework of the Forum new applied projects and programs on sustainable development of the Aral Sea area were launched, memorandums and contracts were signed in such areas as biodiversity preservation, landscaping and desertification containment, consolidation of scientific-research activity, development of social infrastructure and other.
On the same day, the Secretary of state has flown to the Karmakshy district, where she visited “Korkyt ata” memorial complex, acknowledged the work of “Zhyraular uyi” cultural house, district museum and library, and met with the arts intelligentsia.
